“Jackie is an amazing instructor. In high school I had her for multiple classes but most notably was her photography class. Jackie helped me develop my passion and skills in photography when I knew nothing at all. She taught me how to use a camera as well as the core fundamentals of composition. Jackie also inspired me to pursue photography as a career and to study it in college. Now I am in my last semester of photography school and I have so much gratitude for Jackie because I sincerely would not have been the photographer that I am today without her. “Miss Zelt is a teacher, photographer, snowboarder, a very passionate person, and most of all… whole-hearted.  I started at LVR in grade 9 and Miss Zelt was my teacher for one of my very first classes.  We instantly connected over skiing/snowboarding, being outside and her overall vibrant energy. Miss Zelt built her own photography course at LVR and I got the opportunity to experience it.  I also got the pleasure of being in many of Miss Zelt's other classes including Rugby Academy where we focused on our health, which is an important piece to Miss Zelt.  She is also very outgoing in the Nelson community with her photos and she’s taken pictures for Whitewater and for many people in this town.  She’s a real inspiration. Zelt is not only a teacher but a great friend.  Her high spirit and will to do anything that challenges her is a true gift.  Her drive to just make it a little bit further is what inspires me to do my best, and to be who I want to be.  Miss Zelt has passion like nobody else I know.  Her heart is so big and her imagination runs wild, and I hope what she brought to my life she can bring to yours through the love of the outdoors and the great passion for teaching.  I have never had a teacher like her.  She cares and that’s what’s important to me.  She's a real teacher - one who loves the aspect of knowledge and the crazy outdoors.  That is why she is perfect for this.  She will change so many lives for the better and not even know she is doing it.  She is a person too - she has her ups and downs and can easily talk with you about your feelings.  I can't say much more because if I do this will go on forever, but trust me, she's got this in the bag.  She’s Miss Zelt.  She’s a rockstar.”  ~  Roah Levy

“Miss Zelt was a fantastic photography teacher when I was in her class at LVR high school. Her passion for photography presented a hands-on learning environment for me and my fellow students who were able to progress in photography quite quickly. Her ability to teach the subject of photography to someone with very little experience and help them gain a thorough understanding of how a camera works in a very short amount of time is really quite remarkable. My relationship with Jackie was fuelled by our love for skiing/snowboarding. I got the chance to get behind the camera when she took photos of a local ski event that I told her about in class and I was able to see just how talented she really is. We were able to discuss the settings she was using on her camera and the approach that she took to photographing the event. I believe what Jackie is doing now is the best way for someone to get a coach that is both passionate about what she is teaching and to develop a relationship with someone who cares and wants to see you succeed. “Ms Zelt has been a huge role model to me. I’ve taken almost all of her classes and everyday, rain or shine, Zelt brought the happiest energy. She always had a smile on her face and was easy to talk to, which is alway helpful when you’re struggling or just want to talk. You could tell that Zelt cared for her students in a way where everyone is equal. She took pride in making the kids her friends instead of just students. Her impact on me made me want to help and touch others’ lives in the way that she did. “Miss Zelt was by far one of my favourite teachers. There wasn’t a moment in the multiple classes that I took with her that I felt any differently. She always took it upon her to ensure that her students enjoyed themselves as much as they learnt. She was not only a teacher but also a friend to all of us. She had respect for us and understood us like not many other teachers did. She had a way of getting things across to her students, whether they chose to be there or if it was just a filler class for them. In one lesson I went from knowing nothing of a manual camera, or photography, to being able to take some awesome night shots the same day - photos that a lot of people loved.
